Just a curious question:
what's the size of those map files?

Re: Python Tutorial - Extracting from Maplestory's WZ Files
ppl, please, which version of JMS is extractable?
Though there are many 'deletable' sprites.
ex: Haunted House sprites are duplicated (some are normal, some are upside-down, but it's basically the same thing).
And there are Index files, (mostly small files, but some can get to 200KB), which you'll probably not need.
Also, some Tile folders contain images that are purely black tiles.
350MB total (plus 40MB disk mapping files) if you extracted v0.55Sentinel wrote:Just a curious question:

'cause I've downloaded 3 versions and none had any result. The files are over 1GB each, is not something you get in 10 minutes, y'know...Anashi wrote:Why can't you just figure it out by yourself then?gabrielkfl wrote:Seriously, please, which version of JMS is extractable?

Hi, this looks very useful, but with me in china, I can't use mediafire (Government Blocked it =/ ).
Please Can you post some links, even temporary ones, on a different host?
Anything is fine, I just can't download dump.py
Thanks,
Mase

Q: I doubled clicked dump.py but a black box pops up for a second then disappears.
A: Make sure for one that the WZ file you wish to extract is named String.wz. That includes the capital S as well. You might also want to make sure you're using a gMS v0.55 WZ file and not from one that you "accidentally" update.
This happened to me
but I did everything right
.55 file (it has 333,021 bytes just to show it is)
Named String.wz
Using the dump file (in version 3.01 of python )
uhh what is wrong ?

Re: Python Tutorial - Extracting from Maplestory's WZ Files
I got this problem for Npc.wZ I think... But not for Map.wZ. Try extracting the other wZ files. And if you want the map files, you can either get them from PerionCorner or ask someone with a hell of a time to upload them for you. MapleDump is also an option...Finolex wrote:same problem wif me too!

Re: Python Tutorial - Extracting from Maplestory's WZ Files
If the command box just comes up then disappears, right click dump.py, Open with> Python.
I had 2 pythons to click. The first one didn't work. Second one did. Then just press Choose Program, then select the Python that works and tick on Always Use Selected Program to Open These Types of Files or something like that.

Did you make sure you renamed Map.wz to String.wz? Remember to capitalize S.

Same here, I've checked the name "String.wz" and it still don't work for me.
