Go to Documents and Settings>User>Application Data>Adobe>Fireworks CS3>Common Library and paste your symbols and sprites there. You can put them into folders, but not folders within folders.

That's because you haven't TRIED Fireworks, have you?

And if you have Vista and are wanting to insert stuffs into the common library, go to run then type in:
%appdata%
Then go to Adobe > Fireworks CS3 > Common Library

If you learn to animate with Fireworks, then go to Flash, you'll be a really good animator, because then you'll have well knowledge about frame-by-frame animating and when you go to Flash, you could add sounds and what not. If you start with Flash, you'll probably one of those tween abusers that don't really know how to frame-by-frame animate. Plus I hate those people. :x

Hey Gregio, you know how you make a Fireworks Animation, you save it, then close it?

Well, every time I open the GIF file, it's always into one group (background+character etc).
How do I fix it so the background and character are seperate?
Sorry if you don't understand this

What Neos said.
FireworksPNG is the equivalent to Flash's .fla or Photoshop's .psd.
It's the Fireworks editable file.

It means that the skills/sprites you have selected distribute to frames.

Like:

Walk 1 [Selected]
Walk 2 [Selected]
Walk 3 [Selected]
Walk 4 [Selected]

After you click distribute to frames and you have more frames, it will look like this:

Walk 4 [Frame 1]
Walk 3 [Frame 2]
Walk 2 [Frame 3]
Walk 1 [Frame 4]

They're fireworks pngs. They have multiple layers but to Windows they look like a flattened image. So if you open the skills on fireworks they'll be multiple layers and there are your frames.

There is no easy way to animate. It's not someting meant to be done in a few minutes while you're bored, it's pretty fucking hard.
Frame by frame IS good, and if you forced yourself to animate with it, you'd get the hang of it and it would become easier. The keys to quick animating are keyboard shortcuts, I have all kinds of custom shortcuts on FW, several are possible for Flash as well.
What you need to understand is: No good animation ever comes from tweening.

Narutoeps is actually a very good animator and doesn't tween except for walking and such. He is one of the better maple animators on youtube since he made flash movies on Newgrounds about 2-3 years before doing maple crap. Too bad his latest episode got taken down for sound issues or w/e >_>;

Anyways don't use tween if you got flash unless it's
-walking (well you can or dont have to, I'm starting to like fbf more)
-cloud backgrounds
-tweening fades/blurs/etc..

otherwise I never use the motion tween anymore o.o;

Nice to see a Youtube animator who actually realizes how bad tween is.

PS: C&C on my new super tags which link to my gallery and literature(fixing the lit. one) threads.
