Multimedia Teams - Info - 10/23/08

After much thought and planning, I'm proud to announce Multimedia teams for our forum. Here you'll find info on these new teams, and see how they will make our forum better.

What are Multimedia Teams?

Multimedia Teams are the teams for sections in the Multimedia catagory. We will have an Animation Team, a Comics Team, and a Graphics team. These teams represent skilled members of each section, and form a team to take on various projects. In most forums these teams are very inactive, but here each one serves its own purpose, and will encourage people to make these things and join the teams. Becoming a member of any team will let you access their team forum, and engage in their activites. Read on for more info about each specific team, and how to apply for them.



The Animation Team

The Animation Team is a team of skilled animators that works together on bannedstory animation. Bannedstory animation is using the Bannedstory program to make sprites and frames, and then animating them with a seperate animation program. Some popular examples of bannedstory animation would be dray86's Maple Kombat on youtube, or Dante16's Maple Revolution. Animations can be used in many different types of media, and are the more time consuming of the three.

Responsibilities:

• Hosting the AOTW Contest (Animation Of The Week)
  
• Promoting our forum with animation videos and ads
  
• Making sure youtube videos credit our site for backgrounds
  
• Participating in Collabs and various animation projects
  
• Helping out newer animators with advice and critique
  
• Voting on applications to join the team
  

Animation team members will all host the AOTW, an Animation of the Week contest where participants will work to make animations within a two week period, and vote for the best one. Winning one of these is a great way to get on the team, and encourages animators to participate. They will also help make forum ads and videos to promote the forum and bring more members in. Part of being an animator is being aware of other animations, so when members find a video on youtube that doesn't credit their maps, we will all work on getting that video to fix it. They will have collaborations and animation projects to encourage them to continue animating, and help out new animators so they may one day join the team. Also, once your in the team, you are expected to review applications for people trying to join the team, as your vote is the one that counts. Members aren't expected to do these all by themselves, they are team goals and can be achieved together. With a little effort the animation team can be an awesome thing for bannedstory animators.



Comics Team

The Comics team is a group of bannedstory comic makers that work together to make individual and team based projects. Bannedstory comic making is usually done with sprites generated from bannedstory, and then used with an image editor to make panels, which are then used to form the comic. Some popular examples of this would be the Valhse Choronicles by Zatrox, or Gregio's Dragons of Alchemy. All comic makers will find something to love when joining the Comics Team.

Responsibilities:

• Making a weekly forum comic to be displayed on the site
  
• Making sure comic sites like Basil Market credit our site for backgrounds
  
• Collaborating on various projects
  
• Helping out newer comic makers
  
• Voting on team applications
  

The Comics team is in charge of making a weekly forum comic to be displayed on the site. This could be about whatever the team wants, as long as it has to do with our forum. This will keep team members actively making comics, even if they have given up on one of their own. They also check comic sites like Basil so no comics get away with stealing our backgrounds, similar to the animation team. Team members will occasionally collaborate and make comics for projects that either our forum needs or they wish to do for fun. They also need to help out the newer comic makers, because they have experience and can offer them ideas, advice, and suggestions. Voting on team applications is a must, because the team members hold the vote power to bring new members into the team. If you enjoy making comics, I'm sure there will be something for you in the comics team.




Graphics Team

The Graphics team is a group of artists who use digital tools to make images with or without bannedstory. Most people use photoshop, as it gives you the most tools, but some people use other programs. You can see examples of this all over the internet, from our own forum to popular internet sites like youtube or facebook. Graphic design is an important tool for the internet, and if you enjoy making these graphics, you will have a fun time in this team,

Responsibilities:

• Make logos, tags, and images for our forum
  
• Make images for giving credit to our site
  
• Collaborating and hosting contests
  
• Helping out newer graphic makers
  
• Voting on applications for the team
  

Our site requires images for logos, affiliate tags, advertisement banners, and many other things. The Graphics team will be taking on these projects, we will post what we need in the team section, and they will go at it however they like. They will also be making images for an upcoming credit update, giving people who use our backgrounds an easier way to give credit. The Graphics team will brainstorm and make images for this, there will be more info on that later. They will also collaborate and host contests when the team sees fit. Similar to the other teams, the graphics team will help out newer graphic makers and vote on applications for the team. Out of the 3 teams, the graphics team has the most freedom, which means members will have to work together in order to accomplish goals. If you enjoy graphic designing, the various projects you do in the graphics team should appeal to you.


Applications

What is now the Map Maker Applications section will be changed to the Applications section, where you can apply for any team on the forum. You can belong to more then one team, but you can only use one set of colors for your name. The guidelines for posting these applications will be posted there, so check the Application section when this is ready.


Leaders

As the teams kick off, there will be no team leaders, but as we see the teams progress, members who exhibit leadership will be considered for team leader. We might not even need team leaders, but if members start to slack off or nobody starts to lead the teams, we will have to appoint someone to keep things in order.


Hopefully all these tihngs work out well and make our forum better. I think they will, and I hope everyone likes the new Multimedia teams. These teams will require some effort on our part, so they won't go into effect into later this week, I will post a new topic when they are implemented. Look forward to it, and enjoy the teams!

Glad you asked, unlike maplesim our teams will actually support the site and forums in their own unique way, and do projects and tasks instead of being lazy.

Or so you say Twame, but in fact, most of the to-be team members, would be, in part, the same as MapleSim's, like me, Secht, Jeff, Khmer and other people that are either too lazy or too busy to do many projects.

I think we should just stick to AOTW and MOTW until we have more active and capable members.

Oh and just to tell you making a comic every week is difficult because of school. And to think of the ideas is hard to.

By the way, can I post an application without my animations? I mean, everyone knows how good I am. :C

I wonder if I could head for the graphics and comic team too, since I make GFX and Burnin Story.

I'd make more animations/maps, but I seriously am trying to balance out computer time, school work, and actually going outside. D:

But if thats the case there wouldnt be no creative animators their would only be person like dray suck offs and stuff the standard should be the same and the map makers should be higher but the jr map makers are ok

This sounds like a cool Idea Twame =D but... I saw this post and got excited, just to find out the teams weren't out yet! (Just like HTOJ) Do you know when you're starting them up?

Maplesim a more creative(in my opinion) group of members, though they're lazy. And I doubt the standards would be MUCH lower. And it is good, since if our standards are like Maplesim's then we won't have as many members in the teams.

I think the standards would be like, the basics and a little more here.

obviously I don't expect you guys to do this stuff your whole life, just when you are on the forum spend some time doing the team stuff, maybe one or two on the list, you guys can work something out, as long as it gets done your goal is accomplished.

i agree that we shouldn't start this yet... we need a lot more ppl...... also HTOJ has been starting his MA 2 for years.... never got it done............
